2018 First Annual "Race to Lunch" at Wequassett Inn & Resort
Namequoit Sailing Inaugurates New Event
South Orleans, MA-August 17, 2018: Namequoit Sailing Association (NSA) held what was a new sailing venue as part of its adult racing program. Dubbed the ‘First to Lunch’ the event entails NSA boats travelling from Namequoit Point to The Wequassett Inn & Resort and back along the lines of the well established ‘round the world’ yacht races. “We wanted the contestants the opportunity to stop mid-way” said Vice Commodore John Laurino, “to take advantage of the splendid facilities afforded by The Wequassett and to let the skippers meet and greet fans watching from shore. The event was a huge success and we anticipate growth in participation in the coming years” said Laurino. Inexplicitly, the race ended with a tie for first place among four contestants. “This has never happened before” said Laurino. We doubt it will be repeated again in the annuals of NSA racing lore”.

We're pretty excited about the 2017 racing season; it appeared that many of the legs in all three races were headed by a different boat...the competition is heating up. And, we had 18 boats out today! JL
