Looking forward to the 2017 Racing Season! Anyone with a boat between 12 feet and 20 feet interested in joining the racing program is invited to contact John Kelsey, Membership Committee Chair by calling (508) 241-4392 or emailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
NSA holds sailboat races throughout the summer. We start with a mandatory Skipper’s Meeting, then a Workshop-like Regatta, followed by a Summer series of eight races. We race on Sundays with the following Saturday as a ‘make-up’ date. We also have a Fourth of July Race and a Labor Day Race. There may be separate meetings during the summer to review racing rules and tactics.
Racing is open to all Family, Associate Members and Junior members of Namequoit Sailing Association and individuals who register as Racing Participants. All boats must be registered to participate.
Most boats are eligible to race with the handicap system. Boats that participate must be single hull and between 12 and 20 feet. We have some good fleet racing with the Baybirds, the 14' (Arey’s and Classic Cats) 15' (Marshall Sandpiper), 16’ (Arey’s) to 18' Cats (Marshall Sanderling).Typically there are two starts 14’ and under and 15’+. Other boats that participate are the Beetles, 420's, Flying Scots, Daysailors, Sunfish, and others. All are welcome and if there is enough interest with a particular fleet we will accommodate them with their own start.
The Race instructions along with race course, instructions and race schedule are posted online and at the clubhouse.
