Annual NSA Events
Each year we have a number of social events that add to the spirit and enjoyment of NSA. See the Calendar page for this year's schedule.
Opening Work Party & Cookout
Every year we eagerly anticipate the opening of the club for the start of a new season. We gather at the club on a Saturday morning in spring to get the building, grounds, and boats open and ready for members and sailors. The more the merrier – with good turnout, the work goes quickly and then we can gather for a cookout to celebrate the beginning of the season.
NSA Member Cookouts
Please come join us in a longstanding NSA tradition! Starting in early June, member cookouts will be held every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. during the summer season. These get-togethers are a great way to meet fellow sailors and to socialize.
Please bring your own picnic and beverages. Charcoal grills are provided for those who would like to to barbeque.
NSA Opening Meeting & Commodore’s Party
The official start of the season, we regroup and review the events from the winter, vote on any open business, discuss plans for the summer and celebrate the beginning of summer with the Commodore’s traditional punch.
4th of July Parade
Led by the Junior Sailing Program participants, NSA proudly marched in Orlean's 4th of July Parade this year - and took 2nd place!
NSA Square Dance
A longtime NSA tradition! This annual event is held in a member’s backyard and includes a live caller and a lot of fun. This is a potluck event that includes a silent auction and plenty of dancing for kids and adults. It’s not unusual to have 3 generations of member families - kids, parents, and grandparents dancing at this event!
NSA Mid-Summer Meeting
Halfway through the summer (we’re always surprised how quickly it’s going), the members meet to discuss the summer’s events and plans, vote on any open business, and stick around for a casual cookout.
Lobster & Clambake Party
Celebrating the goodness of Cape Cod seafood, we hold an annual summer dinner event with fresh lobster, steamers, corn, and more. This event is one of the highlights of the summer schedule.
NSA Annual Meeting & Cookout
The official end of the season, this is the last big event of the summer. And it’s a big one! We honor the winning racers and vote in new Board members, and close out any open business. Once all that is taken care of, we have a final celebration cookout.
Closing Work Party & Party
Like it or not, the season ends and it’s time to wrap up the club for the winter. We make the best of it by getting together on a weekend morning in fall to make sure everything is safely tucked away for the off-season. We usually hang around after for lunch and an opportunity to bemoan the upcoming weather.
NSA Member Winter Cook-ins
Looking to socialize with other NSA members during the winter months? We've got a plan - attend a winter cook-in!
Just because the club is closed, that doesn’t mean we stop having fun! These potluck events are held at member's homes about once per month January through May. Keep an eye on the calendar above and for an email from Carol announcing the upcoming evenings. Hope to see you there!
